Clean Marine Platinum Rated
The Clean Marine Program is recognized as the boating industry leader for environmental best practices protecting our waterways for future generations.
Thank you to all staff and boaters whose clean marine best practices contributed to the esteemed designation of Platinum Rating for Lefroy Harbour Resorts. "5 Anchor Platinum" is the highest achievement level of the program, and your actions clearly demonstrate your commitment to the protection of our waterways and marine life!
About the Clean Marine Program
Along with more than 20 marine industry professionals from Ontario's boater and angler associations, Boating Ontario formed the Clean Marine Partnership to develop a voluntary program of "Environmental Best Practices" for the marine industry.
Each participating marina must pass a comprehensive environmental audit to ensure compliance with program standards set out in the Clean Marine Operations Handbook. This handbook, developed through the cooperation of Boating Ontario, Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, sets out more than 200 environmental practices covering all aspects of marine operation - from fueling to waste oil, shrinkwrap and paper recycling, to money-saving initiatives such as energy conservation.
Marinas are audited by Greenleaf, a third-party firm who produces detailed reports on compliance with program standards and converts audit results to a five-point Eco-Rating system, with a low of one, and a high of five green leaf anchors. As of 2009, upgraded standards include Gold, Diamond and Platinum 5-anchor levels of achievement.
